14th ILOS Award is given to the best logistics service providers in Brazil

The second day of the XX International Supply Chain Forum was marked by the delivery of the 14th ILOS Award, which honors the logistics service providers that stood out the most in the Brazilian market, under the eyes of the largest contractors.

The survey that resulted in the award was carried out with 310 logistics professionals from the largest industries in the country in various sectors. Respondents indicated their two candidates in free quotes (without a prior list), mentioned whether or not they are customers of the voted providers, and the ten winners are those who obtained the highest number of votes. In addition to the best logistics service providers in the overall evaluation, ILOS also honored the two most voted by sector of the economy. In total, 282 Logistics Service Providers (PSL's) were mentioned.

In addition to recognition through the Prize, the research is published in a major benchmarking, the Panorama ILOS “Logistic Operators and Railways: The Best in the Perception of Their Users 2014″. The study supports the decision of contracting industries, with important inputs for choosing their logistics partners, and also contributes to service providers by offering best practices and market references, which help to improve their planning and identify business opportunities.

According to Monica Barros, Market Intelligence Manager at ILOS, “in addition to benchmarking with the best in the market, Panorama reveals the list of winners, the number of votes by segment and points out the percentage of votes by customers and non-customers. This provides the provider with inputs about the segments in which it operates and is recognized, where there are opportunities for improvement, and also segments in which it is mentioned, but still does not focus on, and which may reveal business opportunities.

Evolution of the best operators in the last ten years

Monica Barros opened the session by presenting an analysis of the ILOS Prize winners over the last 10 years. From 2003 to 2014, the winners grew their total revenue, on average, 26% pa, while the other operators, 7% pa. This growth was not only organic, as most of the winners acquired or joined companies in this period. In the last 5 years, the average revenue per operator grew 10% pa.

The survey points out that 90% of the winners have some type of certification. The best operators have increased their ownership of assets in the last ten years, both in warehouses and in the fleet, and have a greater supply of transport activities, while there has been a reduction in the supply of storage activities, demonstrating a downsizing of the portfolio to focus on strategic activities.
