PAC actions in logistics infrastructure add up to BRL 3 billion

Belo Horizonte – The federal government allocated BRL 3 billion to actions on highways, railways, ports, airports and waterways in the first half of the year, within the scope of the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), according to a balance sheet released on Monday night, 31 , and available on the website of the Ministry of Planning.

The document mentions works carried out on highways such as the completion of the Anita Garibaldi bridge in Santa Catarina, the Morro do Formigão Tunnel and the BR-101/SC, in addition to investments of R$ 1,7 billion in maintenance, signaling and network operation road.

As for railways, the government mentions the conclusion of the 163-kilometer section of the Transnordestina railway, in Pernambuco. The document also highlights six undertakings in Brazilian ports, including the deepening dredging in Itaguaí/RJ and the construction of the Maritime Passenger Terminal at the Port of Fortaleza, which has already partially operated since June/14.

At airports, three works were carried out, among them the Passenger Terminal at Manaus Airport and the recovery of the central section of the runway at Recife Airport.

Also in the area of ​​logistics infrastructure, in the road segment, the government informed that 7.735 kilometers have been contracted to carry out adaptation, duplication, construction and road paving works. For duplication and adaptation, 3.063 kilometers have been contracted, of which 2.309 kilometers are under construction.

As for construction and paving, 4.672 kilometers have contracted works, 4.389 kilometers of which are already in progress.

In railways, 2.486 kilometers are under construction: the Southern Extension of the Norte Sul Railway (FNS), with 682 km, and which is at 83% completion; the Oeste Leste Integration Railroad (Fiol), with 1.022 km, with 66% completion in the first section and 10% in the second; and the Transnordestina Railroad, with 1.753 km, with completion of 51%.

The amount executed on these three railroads added up to more than R$ 1 billion in 2015. In addition, there are 28 kilometers with modernization of existing corridors on two railroads.

In ports, there are 29 construction, expansion and modernization actions, with four land accesses, 18 projects of berths, wharves and others (12 of which are already in progress), two passenger terminals, with the completion of the Maritime Passenger Terminal at the Port of Fortaleza and another five projects and 15 logistics intelligence actions.

In the airport sector, there are 46 actions in 32 Brazilian airports (18 located in capitals and 14 regional). Of the total, there are 25 passenger terminal works (one concluded and 24 in progress), two studies and projects in execution; 14 works on runways and aircraft yards (one completed and nine in progress) and two works on cargo terminals (one in progress); a control tower work.

In general, in the presentation, the government said that “even with the General Budget of the Union (OGU) adequate to the current conditions, the volume of resources destined to these investments continues expressive and today the priority turns to the execution of works that are already in progress."
