Ferrovia Norte-Sul will receive its first freight train transporting soybeans since its new stretch to Anapólis (GO) was inaugurated by President Dilma Rousseff, a year and a half ago. On Friday, 5.100 tons of soybean meal were shipped in 60 wagons from the logistics company VLI. Loading was done using a granol from the company Granol, a structure used to transport the grains from the warehouses to the wagons.
Leaving from Anápolis, a city located 60 kilometers from Goiânia, the cargo will proceed to the Port of Itaqui, in Maranhão, on a journey of 2.300 kilometers that will be covered in four days. It will be the first time that a load will go through the entire grid layout.
The control of the operation will be carried out by the state-owned company Valec, in the stretch between Anápolis and Porto Nacional (TO). Afterwards, the logistics are handled by VLI between Porto Nacional and Açailândia, where it will finally access Vale's Carajás Railroad, arriving at the Port of Itaqui.
The train left Anápolis on Saturday night. It will be a four-day trip, at an average speed of 40 km/h. Each wagon loaded with soybean meal means three trucks less on the roads. The operation will function as a loop test. In the coming days, other trains should be loaded to transport a total of 27 tons of soybean meal.
Ready for use, the 855 km North-South route between Anápolis and Porto Nacional is not yet in effective use due to uncertainties about the model of commercial exploitation and concession of the railroad.
