The association of rail freight transport users in the country works with the projection that the railroads foreseen in the Government's Logistics Investment Program will begin to have commercial use in 2022. Charge (Anut).
Luiz Henrique Baldez, president of the association, said that rail freight transport consumers work with a credible schedule, where this year the bidding process begins, with the first contracts for the stretches to be built coming out only next year.
“The investment program plans will only physically exist in the 2020s. There is no way to build a 2-kilometer railroad in two, three years”, he said, during a seminar on the subject held by the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo ( Fiesp), in São Paulo.
For next year, advances are expected in the technical and institutional steps after the completion and approval of the regulatory framework this year. With the approval of regulatory bodies and the signing of concession contracts in 2015, works should begin the following year, with an expected duration of between three and four years. “This is an average time that the private sector builds railroads of this size”, stated Baldez.
