who visited the XX International Supply Chain Forum and Expo.Logística 2014 certainly did not go unnoticed. That's because one of the solutions tried out by visitors, RFID technology, was installed at the event to track in real time the movements of those who were there. A panel at the entrance identified with name, position and company the people who approached, and the technology also helped to follow the flow of entrance and exit in the Forum sessions, giving the organization an indication of the lectures that most attracted the attention of the participants.
The company responsible for the solution, bLive IT, talks about how RFID technology has helped organizations to monitor stocks, streamline inventories and generate strategic data that support decision-making by managers in the Logistics area. Check out the interview with Roberto Xavier, Business Director at bLive TI.
How can RFID support supply chain companies?
RFID solutions, that is, radio frequency identification, is a technology used to capture data that occurs where customers do not have capture resources. At the 2014th International Supply Chain Forum and Expo.Logística XNUMX, we presented radiofrequency applied to vehicle monitoring – measuring time in distribution centers and factories – as many customers reported problems such as vehicles in queues, vehicles stopped in the yard, with high per diem costs.
Our operation consists of installing our antennas in these places and, when the vehicle passes by, they record this transit time data. In this way, customers can measure, in real time, the effectiveness of each deposit and evaluate its performance, which directly interferes with the delivery and quality of the companies' service level.
We present a business case in partnership with Lafarge Brazil, a world leader in building materials, better known for Cimentos Mauá, and which has more than a thousand units in Brazil including factories and warehouses: we are introducing the RFID solution in these units to improve monitoring and delivery to the customer.
What are the other application possibilities of the RFID solution?
We can control stocks and inventories with fixed and mobile readers, which can perform instantaneous counts, without the need to be in contact with the reader or the tag, as the technology allows simultaneous readings, even with bulkheads, such as cabinets and containers. This is one of the apps.
In the Health area, for example, we have a business case at Casa Santa Lúcia in Botafogo, which aims to monitor newborns, whose path between the hospital wards is monitored via RFID, in order to give families the security of that the child will only be handed over to the parents.
Tell us about the idea of applying the RFID solution at the event itself.
The solution was applied to XX International Supply Chain Forum and Expo.Logística 2014. All visitors who passed through the entrance of the event effectively participated in our solution, since they had their name and company displayed on a screen at the entrance, which monitored the entry and exit of people. Antennas were also installed in the rooms to measure the length of stay of visitors, in order to help ILOS measure how many people effectively participated in each lecture, and measure quality, for example.
Did Expo.Logística 2014 help generate new business?
A Expo.Logistics opened up a series of business possibilities and a large network of contacts. The event itself is well articulated for the Logistics segment for which we are developing solutions. It exceeded our expectations, we thought we would receive an audience of people curious about our solutions, but they were people who had already read about RFID.
