The third day of XX International Supply Chain Forum & Expo Logística discussed innovation in procurement with a focus on the supply chain. During the event, the largest companies in the world presented their solutions, including JDA, whose experience in industry, retail and manufacturing was the subject of the company's presentation during the General Session "Innovation in 3PLs: technologies for differentiation in the supply chain", which was attended by Todd Johnson, Global Vice President of 3PL and Oscar Gutierrez, Vice President of JDA Software for South America.
We've gathered the two executives' insights on innovation, technology and processes in the interview below. Oscar Gutierrez tells how JDA's previous experience helped build the company's technological solution:
How does the technology and work developed by JDA help boost the logistics chain?
JDA is a company specialized in advanced planning and optimization of supply chain leaders. The organization very quickly began to realize that it was important to plan the chain as a whole. And for that reason, it specialized not only in planning, but also in manufacturing as a way of being able to see an extended chain (point of sale, industry and suppliers of this industry).
JDA's 35 years of existence in these markets ensured the know-how to offer a complete solution that brings together strategic, tactical and operational planning actions, helping customers to have the right product, in the right place, at the right time and at the lowest cost. possible.
What kind of result do customers start to notice through the provision of JDA services?
Improvement of service level, inventory reduction, transportation cost reduction and supply chain leaders in general and greater visibility of the chain as a whole and management by exception – it only goes after the problems and the whole is solved by the technological solution.
Among the services provided by the company are: Demand Planning, Distribution Planning, Transport Logistics, Plant Distribution, production sequencing, among others, with the aim of reducing costs for the customer.
We have a lot of 3PL customers. So we developed several solutions for the supply market. Todd Johnson is one of the people who manages the 3PL's area at JDA.
Todd Johnson presents innovation applied to the supplychain, the challenges of growing in the Brazilian market and strategic partners as a competitive differential.
How can we use the information to improve the flow in the logistics chain and how does JDA software help companies?
Many organizations are developing solutions for specific areas of the company and we see that they are missing the opportunity (and advantage) to present an integrated solution, which can cover the entire production chain and allow greater visibility between interdependent areas.
JDA saw the possibility of gathering and having visibility of all stages of the process on the same platform, and having access to this data, observing and developing market trends for our customers, such as the pharmaceutical industry case (Pharmashare/DHL) that will be presented today.
One of the challenges is managing different and complex supply chains: how can I optimize my networks?
There are many variables that impact the pharmaceutical industry and its entire distribution chain. We developed a system that gathers specific data from ANVISA and that contributed to an improvement in the level of service, especially with regard to quality, cost reduction and time optimization for our client (Pharmashare/DHL).
Regarding emerging markets: what are the biggest challenges that Brazil offers JDA?
You need local access: local offices, local strategic partners to understand the particularities of the Brazilian market, as well as regulation and distribution networks, as it is a country with continental dimensions. To better understand this scenario, we work with local partners, such as DHL.
One of the areas we see with potential growth for our 3PL clients is to go beyond transport and storage and add value to services, optimizing inventories, remodeling networks and implementing not only global solutions but also adapting standard solutions to the local market.
JDA provides solutions based on co-creation with its customers, creating and developing solutions that meet them at the moment and also for the future they project, such as expansion plans, for example.
