Only 1% of the country's large industries and retailers are leading the decarbonization of logistics, while 54% are still developing strategies and 45% are in the initial stage, according to research by the Institute of Logistics and Supply Chain (ILOS) with 120 of the largest companies in the sector. For Maria Fernanda Hijjar, executive partner at ILOS, logistics has a significant impact on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. "Those who do not adopt measures may face sanctions or lose investors and customers," she warns.
To reduce emissions and costs, companies are betting on cargo consolidation and route optimization. The last mile, the most polluting stage of logistics, demands innovative solutions such as fleet electrification and alternative fuels. Fever Mobilidade, which serves the food, beverage, laundry, and pet shop sectors, sold 200 electric tricycles in 2024 and projects sales of 450 to 600 in 2025.
