ILOS supports large Brazilian port operator in its investment decision in the fertilizer sector

The fertilizer market has grown in recent years in the wake of the booming growth of Brazilian agribusiness. However, due to several factors such as scarcity of mineral resources and the high costs associated with production, Brazil depends, to different degrees, on imports of the main fertilizer products, known as NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium).

The project proposal was to carry out a study of the fertilizer market, evaluating the market (main producing countries, products, raw materials, import terminals, volumes produced and imported, production and import capacities, etc.) and operations (type of cargo, size of vessels, main players, port loading and unloading, storage, etc.).

Based on a current view of the market and operations, added to the expectations of growth in grain production in the following years, the main trends in the fertilizer market were mapped and discussed, presenting the challenges, opportunities and risks that exist in the logistics operations of this segment. .
