Air cargo takes off: planes already transport even grains and agricultural inputs

In the last couple of years, the advance demonstrates a detachment of cargo transport from the performance of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) after the pandemic, explains Mauricio Lima, managing partner of Ilos, specialized in logistics and supply chain:

— Freight transport as a whole has always correlated with GDP, growing or shrinking in line with it. On highways, this effect is amplified. In 2020, that changed. The economy contracted 4%, and load demand rose 3%. In 2021, the economy advanced 4,6%, but the road modal jumped 8,6%.

For Lima, demand shows signs of consistency, as supply chains are not fully recovered.
