In 2022, railroads should account for a 19% share of cargo movement in the country – without much variation in relation to the level observed since 2004, according to data from the consultancy Ilos. Highways will continue to represent around 63% of the transport matrix.
“We made progress, but punctually. It will take time for us to put this change into practice, because, at the same time that investments are made, the country continues to increase its production, its crop. The new projects are extremely necessary, but, in the short term, there will be no change in the participation of the modes”, says Maria Fernanda Hijjar, executive partner of Ilos.
