Currently, Brazil has a fleet of 70 ships, according to ABAC, a significant number, which indicates room for much growth and acceleration. According to a study by the Ilos Institute, an organization specialized in logistics and supply chain, for every 1 container transported by cabotage, there are another 4,8 that could use the waterway mode in the country. The same institute also indicates that 21% of Brazilian industries express their intention to join cabotage. Currently, 63% of national production is transported by road, 19% by railway and 13% by sea.
