Specifically in the healthcare sector, the motivations for strengthening the operational capacity of logistics service providers are quite evident, according to Maurício Lima, managing partner of the Institute of Logistics and Supply Chain (Ilos). This is a sector with an estimated business volume of R$ 160,7 billion, growing at rates of over 11% year-on-year, more than the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), since 2015. “When the economic scenario is turbulent, permeated by conflicts and wars, as is happening now, manufacturers and shippers of products move more and fear the risk of stopping the receipt of raw materials. This tends to increase demand, and client companies rush to anticipate imports,” explains Lima. “Many operators also hurry to develop specific solutions for clients, at least in terms of warehousing and international transport, to serve the foreign market,” he states.
