Brazil has lost 22% of its truck drivers in the last ten years. According to data from Senatran analyzed by the logistics consultancy ILOS, the country had 5,6 million drivers licensed in categories C and E in 2015, a number that fell to 4,4 million in 2025.
A national survey by the National Confederation of Autonomous Transporters (CNTA), conducted in 2024 by AGP Pesquisas, reveals that the typical Brazilian truck driver is male (99%), 46 years old, has been in the profession for 17 years, and works an average of 12 hours a day. More than half (54%) intend to leave the road, and only 46% want to continue.
