A prototype of the future Japanese magnetic levitation train reached a record speed of 603 km/h
“This speed of 603 km/h was maintained for 10,8 seconds,” reported Central Japan Railways, stating that this is a world record. The speed was reached when the train went through a tunnel.
The test, with people on board, was carried out on Tuesday, on a special line of 42,8 km in Yamanashi, in central Japan, where this “maglev” is developed. The train beat, in the test, its own record, of 590 km/h, covering more than 10 km per minute or 170 meters per second.
The objective of the test was to prove the stability of the train at a speed much higher than expected for commercial service.
